Eaglehawk Neck had been a terrible place where prisoners are tortured and terrorized. Today, it is a lovely quiet place where nature has been almost wiped out traces of bad history. Eaglehawk Neck links the island to the mainland Tasman Peninsula Tasmania in Australia.
The island is known for its covered pavement, a rare natural phenomenon caused by erosion. The main features of the areas hit by a kind of erosion is a rock that cracked into regular rectangular. Eaglehawk Neck is one of the most characteristic example for such kind of erosion.
As we said before, in the first half of the 19th century, this place hosts a prison in Port Arthur. It is famous for its lines is called a dog made in the neck to prevent prisoners escaping to the sea.
Ports Atrhur prison known as one of the best kept in jail time and only a few prisoners managed to escape. One of them who managed to escape from this prison is Martin Cash who became famous for its twice escaped from prison. prison is now a museum and re-this is one of the most visited tourist locations in Australia.
This place has a bad voice recently updated in 1996. when the horrible mass murder going on there, however, still remains a beautiful tourist destination.
