Gyeongbok Palace is a palace located in the northern city of Seoul (Gangbuk), South Korea. Built during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), Gyeongbokgung Palace is recognized as the best among the five major palaces. As a main palace representing the Joseon Dynasty, it was a residence for the royal family and the place where official ceremonies and rituals are held. It is well known and a favorite destination among foreign tourists who visit Seoul.
