Spring is in Ueno Park Temple of Benzaiten stems from a named Kan'ei-ji temple was built in Edo period by shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu 3rd. Temple of was built to seal evil forces from the northeast winds are believed to be unlucky. During Boshin War, building Kan'ei-ji was burned after use as a bastion of supporters of shogunate warrior group called the Sh? gitai.

In 1870, Dutch doctor named Anthony Bauduin come to check the location of the former Kan'ei-ji. According to the plan, at this location will set up medical schools and hospitals. He also advised the government to defend Ueno area as a park.

''In year 1837, location to Ueno Park determined based on command Daj? right (interior minister). Ueno Park was completed and opened to public in 1876. Development Ueno Zoo and Tokyo National Museum started in 1882. In 1890, the land became park property and is under the jurisdiction of Part Imperial Household.

In 1924, Part Imperial Household donated the park to Tokyo city government, so the park was officially given the name Provision of Emperor's Ueno Park (Ueno Onshi K? en). On Main Line Keisei built a new railway station between Nippori Station and Keisei Ueno Station. Station completed in 1933 and was named Hakubutsukan-Doubutsuen. In 1997, Hakubutsukan-Doubutsuen ceased operations before it was deleted in 2004.

In 1973, Anthony Bauduin statue erected to commemorate 100 year Ueno Park. However statue's face is made of the portrait face wrong brother Anthony Bauduin. The statue with the correct face was completed back in the year.
